Joseph married Sarah Massey about May 1726. First intention to marry at Philadelphia Monthly Meeting on 25 March 1726; second intention on 29 April. ^[1] No record or marriage certificate with date of marriage found, but most likely married a short time after 29 April.

Joseph was a blacksmith, the occupation given in his will. The work he did included iron work for s ship built in Philadelphia. He was paid £110 4s 4 1/2d for work done on the Torrinigton in 1728-29. ^[2]

Joseph made his will on 2 May 1755 in Philadelphia. ^[3] Records for Philadelphia Monthly Meeting record that he was deceased 20 July, 1755. ^[4]
