Biography
John was born about 1722 in Dartmouth, Devon.
John Olding was born in Dartmouth, Devon, England.
John was a student at Philip Doddridge's Dissenting Academy
John was a nonconformist minister
He trained for the ministry at Philip Doddridge's Academy, Northampton (1740-1743) and was funded by the Congregational Fund Board at £12 p.a.
He then became the Minister at
Southgate, Gloucester, 1743-54;
High St., Deptford, Kent, 1754-85[1]
John was listed as a supporter of the Society for Promoting Religious Knowledge among the poor in the 1779 report which the charity published. The report recorded him as Rev John Olding, Deptford and that he had been a supporter since 1761[2] .
John died on 7th October 1785 and his funeral sermon was preached by Stephen Addington DD (1729-1796) on 16th October 1875, at the meeting house in Butt Lane Deptford, where he had been the minister for 31 years. John was 64 years old whe he died.
