Charles was born in 1874 in Seaforth, Alberta, Canada, to French/Prussian immigrant parents.[1][2]
His immigrated to Oregon with his parents and siblings around 1890. His younger brother, Levi Lawrence Oleman, was born in Oregon in 1891.[3]
Charlie P. met his wife Jeanetta while their families were neighbors on Lukiamute River homesteads.[4]
Charlie and Jeanetta lived in Skamania, Washington for a period of time, whilst he worked at the sawmill there [5]
They returned to Oregon with their children at some point before the First World War, [6] where they remained and were living at the time of Jeanetta’s accidental death in 1934.[7][8]
Charley P. continued to live in the same residence in Marion County with his younger children after becoming a widower [9]
His youngest child married, in 1942, and Charlie P. remarried later that same year, at the age of 67, to a Locky Sturgill.[10] Locky was not remembered fondly by her stepson, Virgil, who recalled that she banned any French speaking in their home.[11] Charlie P.’s own father had been well spoken of as being an intelligent man, fluent in three languages, [11].
He moved to Woodburn 3 years before his death, while he remained a member of the Assembly of God church in Salem.[1] Charlie P. passed away in 1950.[12]
