John Oliphant was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

John Oliphant was born in Tamworth, NSW on 31 March 1858, the son of Fanny Drury and William Henry Oliphant.^[1] John was the third of Fanny and William's four children.

John Oliphant, son of Fanny Drury and William Henry Oliphant, married, Lavinia Schofield, daughter of Mary Ann Cameron and Thomas Schofield, at Glen Innes, NSW on 9 Apr 1887.^[2] Their children included:

• Beatrice L Oliphant (1888-1888)^[3][4]
• Arthur George D Oliphant (1899-1966);^[5][6][7][8]
• Gladys Irene Marjorie Oliphant (1903-1987)^[9][10][11]
