Biography

Charles was baptised on 14 May 1797 at Canterbury St Dunstan, son of James Olive and Lucy (Lucey). [1]

I contacted the AACo and in their archive, Thank you for your enquiry about CHARLES OLIVE and his employment with the Australian Agricultural Company. Charles Olive, a bricklayer, from Canturbury in Kent, was recruited by the AACo in London, his contract was for seven years, and his salary thirty pounds a year. Charles Olive, His Wife Lucy Mary, and their children, William, George and Susan came to NSW on the ' Marquis of Anglesey' with a number of AACo. employees. They Arrived at Port Jackson on 5th November 1827, and went from there to Port Stephens, I think Susan was born on the ship. One other child was born and baptised at Port Stephens: Henry in February 1830.

The Diary of the Commissioner, Sir Edward Parry, for Monday 7th March reads: I received a letter from Chas Olive, asking, for, ( I believe ) the 3rd time at least, to be allowed to leave the Company's service. He is a discontented man, and will, I fear, never be otherwise. As we now have a good number of bricks made, and we have other brick makers, I think I shall let him go. "

I understand that the Olive Family went to the Maitland District where Charles worked as a bricklayer.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Charles by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Charles:

Olive-208 and Olive-37 appear to represent the same person because: Both have the same vitae, linked / married to the same spouse
