Frances Oliver was born in Yorkshire, England.

Frances was born in 1892[1] in Bellasize, Yorkshire, England, and was baptised nearby in Eastrington. She was the daughter of George Oliver and Fanny Robinson;[2] in 1901 the family lived in Blacktoft, Yorkshire.[3]

Frances's father died in 1905 at the age of 37.[4] In 1911 she lived with her mother in Hessle, Yorkshire, where she worked as a housemaid.[5]
