Biography

John was born about 1836. He was the son of Henry Oliver farmer; and lived at Ardinarive, Bovevagh, County Londonderry as of 1861. ^[1]

On 23 January 1862 at Draperstown Presbyterian, he married Mary Jane Ferguson(30) of Cahore, daughter of Robert Ferguson, farmer. Witnessed by Henry James Oliver and Eleanor Graham. ^[1]

They lived at Coolessan (part of Limavady) in 1901, Terrydremont North (just to the south of Limavady) as of 1911. John was blind as of 1901; and he lived with his unmarried daughter Mary Jane (also blind) who had a child Robert.

He passed away 20 June 1913 "age 75", farmer, at Terrydremont. ^[2]

Research Notes

Their son Thomas Kennedy is a spirit merchant in the census; and a tentative death for his wife at Limavady 1892 says "wife of a spirit merchant".

In the 1901 census he is "married" but maybe that is just a mistake , as his wife is not on the census.

There is a Mary Oliver dies 1908 age 68, wife of John Oliver farmer -- but no middle names on that record, and it's at Aghaloo which is not a place we otherwise associate with this couple.
