George Oliver was born on March 17, 1858, in Roxborough, Roxburghshire, Scotland, his father, George, was 45 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 32. He had four sons and two daughters with Carry Plumtree between 1889 and 1900. He died on January 26, 1933, at the age of 74.
