Married at High Halden in 1843 to Jesse Aldridge. Their first child, Elizabeth, was born the previous year at High Halden and registered as Elizabeth Oliver at Tenterden. The next two children were born at Ewhurst, Sussex, their father's native place. The family then removed to Hammersmith where five more children were born. They appear as Aldridge in the 1851 census but from that time on, the spelling Eldridge (rather than Aldridge) was used for their surname; the death of Jesse (1853) and Caroline (1883) were both registered as Eldridge. Caroline appears as 'Catherine', born at 'High Malden, Kent' in the census of 1861. (In 1851, her place of birth was recorded as 'Walden', not Walderton as stated in some transcriptions.) 1871 and 1881 censuses both correctly record her as Caroline Eldridge born at High Halden (1871 at Hammersmith, 1881 at Kensington).
