Apparently, this is the generation where some of the family moved over to Olmstead (with the "a"). One daughter apparently retained Olmsted
Ensign Jared Olmstead served with 16th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.
Jared Olmstead is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A086291.
He served in the Revolutionary War in the Conn. line as a Ensign in Capt. David Olmstead's company in Col. Beardsley regiment and was in Gen. Washington's army when driven out of New York.
Jared married Hannah Betts in 1773. They had eleven children:

In the Titicus Cemetery in Ridgefield, Jared's cemetery monument is clearly shown with Olmsted.[1]
