Samuel Olmstead served in the United States Civil War.

Samuel was born in 1844. He was the son of Jabez Olmstead and Jane Bailey. [1]

He enlisted August 22, 1862 at Troy, New York. He was described as an Iron Worker, 5’-6” tall with blue eyes and brown hair. He mustered in October 6, 1862 as a Drummer in Company I of the 169th Infantry. Samuel was mustered out with his company as a Musician on July 19, 1865 in Raleigh, North Carolina. [2] [3] [4]

He died in Troy on 4 Nov 1886. His burial location is unknown. [5]
