William was born in 1896. He was the son of Clark Olmstead and Nettie Hammitt.
He served in the Iowa National Guard along the Mexican boarder and then as a driver in Europe during World War I.
He passed away in 1926 and is buried in the Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa.[1]
