Biography

Johan, son of Olof Larsson in Ställberget, was baptized 14 April 1667.[1] He lived in Ställberget with his widowed mother, goodwife Brita, sister Kerstin Olofsdotter and brothers Lars and Olof.[2] In the next installment in the same volume Lars is absent.[3]

Where infantry soldier #64, Johan Olofsson Uggla of Bergs kompani, Västmanlands regemente appears in the military rolls it is just to state that he died by Landskrona 24 March 1710 (and has not yet been replaced).[4] It is not really clear when he took over after his predecessor, Jacob Olofsson Berg - or even if there was somebody filling that number in between - the Great Northern War was going on.

According to the obituary of Johan Uggla's wife, Kerstin Månsdotter, Johan and Kerstin were married when she was in her 24th year and lived together for 16 years.[5] Since she was born in March 1668 this would have been some time in 1691 or early in 1692. Counting back 16 years from Johan's death we get an estimated marriage date in 1694. However, in the marriage book for Hed parish (where Kerstin grew up) the marriage of Johan Olsson from Ställberget in Skinnskattebarg is noted the fourth Sunday in June 1696. The name of the bride is omitted/neglected - but it must be them.
