Biography

Petronella / Pernella Olsdatter / Olsdotter was a widow from Valle when she married Peder Olsen Kolhus. Petronella married Per Olsen and moved to Kolhus in 1818. In 1832 she was still reigstered there as a widow, and the same year she married Nils Olai Håjen and moved there.

Name, Petronella, as registered at baptism of her son Hans Lind Pedersen.^[1]

Pernilla Olsdatter died at Håjen, Bertneslia, and was buried on 23 Feb 1834, age stated as 61.^[4] A probate after Pernilla Olsdatter Haugen was recorded on 10 May and closed on 12 Aug 1834.^[5] It mentions only two heirs, the widower Nils O. Olsen and the son Hans Pedersen.

Notes

At the wedding in 1818 Petronella of Walle is a widow. The sponsors at the wedding were Ole Iversen Sandjord and John Pedersen Wikan. Candidates:

Pernille Olsdatter Tuv (?). Pernille married (30 Oct 1798) Ole Danielsen Buberg/Tuv (~1769).^[6] Children:

• Daniel (bap. 14 Jul 1799)^[7]
• Ingebor (bap. 26 Apr 1801, bur. 28 Dec 1801)^[8]
• Lisbeth (bap. 31 Oct 1802, bur. 14 Nov 1802)^[9]

Records of death for Ole and Daniel not found. Ole Danielsen, Indre Tuv, is mentioned in estate protocols in 1802.^[10] However, he is not listed at Tuv in 1816. Note that Indre Tuv is Northern Tuv (numbered 190, 191 and 192 in the protocols. Buberg is a smallholding numbered 193, and S. Tuv runs from 186 to 189.

Excluded Pernille Olsdatter Seivåg (b. 1786). She married (14 Jul 1811) Ingebright Johnsen Seivåg, and they had a daughter Ingeborg Marie (bap. 2 May 1813).^[11] Pernille was born in Sundby, Saltdal abt. 1786, the daughter of Ole Monssen Medby (1748 - 1815) and Sofia Andersdatter Sundby (1746 - ?). In June 1816, when her fathers probate was written, Pernille is still married to Ingebright Johnsen.^[12] But there is no Ingebright at Seivåg in the tax or mobilisation rolls for 1816. The couple are most likely the same that are found at Grimstad, Gildeskål a few years later, when their daughter Ane Oline is born on 9 Apr 1821 and Johannes? on 14 Aug 1825.^[13]

A Pernille Olsdatter Skånland and Ole Pedersen Sandjord have a son Ole outside of marriage, bap. 15 Nov 1816.^[14] This might be the Ole Pedersen who is registered as age 22 and born in Kaalhus in the military rolls for 1816. This would be the second son of Peder Olsen Kaalhus' first marriage, whom our Petronella married in 1818.

Pernelle Olsdatter (bap. 25 Dec 1790), father: Ole Pedersen, mother: Ane Pedersdr. Of Yttre Ripenes.^[15] Ole and Ane m. 8 Oct 1775 at Hansgården, Kvalvåg. Ola d. 2 May 1800, Ane d. 15 Jul 1811. Ola was m. #1 to Kjersten Larsdatter, and they had the children Mallena (b. ~1760, bur. 18 Apr 1814) m. #1 to Ole Sørensen Yttre-Ripnes (1761-1802), #2 to Per Jacobsen (1775-1825), Per (bap. 26/9 1769, d. 5/2 1801), Kjersten (bap. 5 Mar 1764, at Skjerstad in 1799, d. bef. 1814), Beret (bap. 26 Apr 1767, at Skjerstad in 1799, d. bef 1814). Children w/Ane: Hans Buchoff (bap. 27 Jan 1782), Petronella, Kjersten (bap. 5 Apr 1778, d. bef. 1811), Nils (bap. 10 Dec 1780, d. bef 1801). In the probate after Ane in 1811, the son Hans is mentioned to have been commandeered to Trondheim in 1809, and Pernille is at Fauske. Kjersten is not mentioned and must be dead. In the probate after Ane's brother Anders in 1814, we find that the only remaining family members are Hans (in military service in Trondheim), Pernella (serving at Andreas Jacobsen, Fauske, Skjerstad). But in the probate after Mallena Olsdatter, dated 29 Mar 1815, it is mentioned that her sister Beret (40) is alive and living at Christopher Olsen, Mosti. Kjersten (45) is in Skjerstad, and Pernilla (30) is at Indre-Fauske, with Jacob Pedersen.

They have a child, Edrika Nicoline Christophersdatter b. 3 Dec 1836, and here the mother's name is listed as Peternilla Necoline Olsdatter, Vokøe. Christopher Henriksen (~1796) was the son of Henrik Jespersen Wokøen (~1748).
• *Excluded:* Peternella Olsdatter, Brevig, Folda married Jens Torkelsen, from Steigen on 27 Dec 1806. Jens Torchildsen, Sund, Steigen died in 1830, age 50.
• *Excluded:* Pernella Olsdatter marries the widower Jens Olsen Muulen, Sørfold on 30 Jul 1807. Jens Olsen Muulen dies 18 Jun 1825 age 73.
• *Excluded:* A Peternella Olsdatter married Gunder Eliassen (Dybvig, later Sildhopen, Lakså) on 4 Oct 1816. Their children are born in 1817, 1819, 1822, 1823, 1825, 1828, 1831.

Peternilla Olsdatter, Kaalhus is a godparent to Lars, son of Nils Baggesen Hundfladlie and Bereth Hansdatter on Aug. 2 1818 (before her wedding to Peder). Note that Daniel Olsen Kaalhus is another godparent here.

Pernille Olsdatter, Walle is a godparent to Ole, son of Colbus Olsen, Walle and Gretha Jensdatter, on 2 Jun 1816. Also Jesper Olsen is a godparent. Colbent Olsen Walle is recorded as age 46 and born in Bergen (from mobilisation records). Jesper Olsen is 21 and from Saltdalen.^[18] In these records, also Bent Olsen from Medby in Saltdalen is 'oppsitter' at Walle. Jesper is the son of Ole Jespersen (b. ~1844) and Martha Christensdatter, Medby, Saltdal. Bent is mentioned at Valle in the farm book (p. 598), but not Pernille or Jesper. About Kolbein it says that he was a carpenters apprentice from Bergen, and that he took over the running of Hansgården around 1812. Kolbein Olsen married Grete Jensdatter from Hærnes (p. 592). Kolbein might be the Colbanus Olsen, who is baptised in Bergen on 6 May 1770, with a twin sister Marthe, the son of Ole Knutsen Ringer and Karen Herlevsdatter.^[19]
