Biography

Merle was born in 1929. He is the son of Charles L. Olson (1890-1972) and Bertha Chloe (Edwards) Olson (1898-1979). In 1950 he married Della May Leistiko.^[1] He died in 2012 and was buried at Valley View Cemetery , Clarkdale, Yavapai County, Arizona, USA

Merle Lester Olson, 83 of Cottonwood, passed away August 31, 2012 at his home in Verde Village while working in his yard.

He was born April 28, 1929 in Moore, Montana; the son of Charles Lester and Bertha Edwards Olson.

A resident of Cottonwood, AZ for 38 years, he moved from Montana to Arizona in 1967.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving at one time as a Bishop. Before retiring, he worked many years as a heavy equipment operator.

His favorite pastime was sharing his love for work, sports, and the outdoors with his children and grandchildren.

Merle is survived by his wife of 62 years, Della; his four children, all of Cottonwood; Karin Mickelson, Kay Ellen Roberts, Bill Olson and wife Lori Olson, Gail Jones and husband Mike Jones, plus 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.
