Biography

James Onions was the fourth known child of George Onions and Diana (Williams) Onions.[1]

Birth

He was born in Bilston, Staffordshire, England and was baptised 1 February 1824 in the Parish Church of St Leonard, Bilston.[1]

Marriage

James Onions and Ann George were married 19 May 1850 at Christ Church, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.[2]

Residence

  • 1841 (with Mary Onions) at Wolverhampton Street, Bilston, Staffordshire.[3]
  • 1851 at Hallfields, Bilston.[4]
  • 1861 at Back Houses, Bilston.[5]
  • 1871 to 1893 at Gilbert Street, Garston, Lancashire.[6][7][8][9]

Occupation

His occupation was "Iron Roller" [4][5][8] and "Foreman Roller" in 1871.[6] In 1881 he was unemployed.[7]

Death

James Onions died 2 November 1893 at Garston, Lancashire and was buried 5 November 1893 at the Parish Church of Garston. He was 69 years of age.[10][9]

Probate was granted 15 December 1893 to Thomas Onions and William Minshull.[9]

Research Notes

  • Not identified Mary Onions who seems to have cared for James and his siblings after his father died.
  • Death registration index has age of 59 years. Assumed to be an error.[11]
  • William Minshull is husband of Clara Onions.
