Biography

Arthur was born in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire on 16 July 1864. His parents were Douglas Arthur Onslow and Caroline Isabel Tottenham.

He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.

He then graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge University, Cambridge in 1895 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).

On 3 February 1900 Arthur married Mabel Longstaff and they had 3 children. Arthur's marriage was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1900 in the Wandsworth district.^[1]

He gained the rank of temporary Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, Montgomeryshire Volunteer Regiment. He held the office of High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire between 1936 and 1937. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Montgomeryshire. ^[2]

In the 1939 register Arthur, Justice Of Peace (Retired Mi), was married and living at Mount Severn, Newtown And Llanidloes, Newtown and Llanidloes R.D., Montgomeryshire, Wales.^[3] The household consisted of 11 people.

Arthur died on 11 August 1957 at the European Hospital in Kisumu, Kenya and his estate passed probate on 23 January 1958 in Great Britain.^[4]
