Gertrude Stones was born Port Arthur in 1907. She was the daughter of William Opie and Matilda Merrifield. She married Reginald Stones in Port Arthur in 1927. She passed away in Thunder Bay in 1985.
Mrs. Gertrude Stones, age 77 of 220 Pine Street, passed away on Tuesday, Jan 1 1985, in hospital. Survived by: two sons, Allan of 45 Regent St., Fred of Montreal; one daughter Ruth, Mrs. David Jackson of Saint John, N.B.; eight grandchildren; two sisters Muriel Torrie of Kakabeko, Ethel Southern of Thunder Bay; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Predeceased by her husband Reg in April 1960. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 1985 when family and friends will gather at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church. Interment in Riverside Cemetery. Removal will be made from the Everest Funeral Chapel prior to service time. If friends desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.[1]
