At the age of 7 months, Herman, along with his mother and brother, Ole, traveled from Eidsvoll to Oslo where they boarded the ship Montebello enroute to Liverpool, England on Jun. 1, 1906 to join his father in America.[1] They then boarded the Empress Britain from Liverpool to Quebec, Canada arriving on Jun. 16, 1906.
Herman married Lillian Adeline Berg, daughter of Christian Berg and Maren Benson of Sweden. They became the parents of one daughter, Iyone Ardell, b. Dec. 18, 1926. She married William D. Holm.
Herman Opsahl died on Mar. 1, 1966 in Goodhue County, Minnesota.[2] He is buried at the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, Minnesota.[3] He left a Will which is filed in Vol. 127 of the Goodhue County will records.[4]
