Biography

Elizabeth was the daughter of Adam and Mary Arbaugh.

She was most likely born in Shenandoah County, Virginia (then Dunmore County) in or near the Blue Ridge Mountains around 1772. (Find-A-Grave lists her birth year as 1776 which would have made her only 14 when her first child was born and 11 when she married.)

In 1787, she married Moses Fleshman a Revolutionary War Vet who had served in 1781. He was a descendant of Cyriacus and Hans Peter Fleischmann who settled in the Robinson River Valley in 1728. Her sister Catherine Arbaugh married her husband's brother Samuel Fleshman and their descendants are numerous in Greenbrier, Fayette and Raleigh counties.

Elizabeth had at least nine children, the youngest born in Grassy Meadows. She died in 1840 and is buried in the family cemetery in Fleshman Hollow near Rainelle.
