Biography
Robert Ormsby was born after 1823 in Ireland (see Research Notes).
Statement in Footprints in History Vol 2 , at Te Awamutu Museum. Robert and Rangihurihia were Married Maori Style in 1848. The European Marriage ceremony was listed in John Morgan's Marriage Register for the 25 Nov 1958. Rangihurihia was 27 years [1].
He passed away in 1920 aged 97 years in Pirongia, Waikato, New Zealand [2].

Article From The Te Awamutu Museum related to the Old "Waipa Post" press which lay on the Banks of the Waipa for some 20 years..(Besides some of the uses the old press was put to by the locals,) we read: Mr Robert Ormsby, a lay missionary teacher who lived at Whatiwhatihoe, tried to induce the Maoris tp print the Sermon on the Mount in the Waikato (Maori) dialect. Disputes arose as to the use of the press and it was never used for printing at Kopua
