Philip Orndorff, was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, about 1762. In his father's will written in 1777 he mentioned that his son, Philip, should be taught a trade when he turns sixteen. He was in Virginia before 1782, when he married Elizabeth Seabert in Frederick County. He purchased land on headwaters of Cedar Creek in Shenandoah County and settled there with his family. In the 1810 census the family consisted of 1 male under 10, 2 males 10-15, 2 males 16-25, one female under 10, one female 10-15 and one male 26-45. one male and one female over 45. Elizabeth was deceased before December 1812, when Philip married Catherine Wymer Yoe.[1] Philip is listed as age 70-79 in the 1830 census died about 1838, according to family tradition.
