Ruth Coppock - Was a school teacher for many years.
Graveside services for Ruth Coppock, 88, of Roswell will be held at 10 a.m. at South Park Cemetery with Rev. Tracy Spencer-Brown, Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Ruth passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Casa Maria Health Care Center.
Ruth was born on June 7, 1918 to Lola and Earl Orr in Hill County, Texas. She graduated from Itasca High School in 1936 and Denton State Teachers College (now North Texas State College) in 1939. She and Donald Coppock were married Feb. 4, 1949 in Carlsbad. He survives her at the family home.
Ruth taught school for 35 years, first in Luling, Texas, then in Midland, Texas, and later in Carlsbad, (where she met Donald) and then for 25 years she taught school in Roswell. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, Donald, Ruth is survived by a brother, Bill Orr and his wife, Ann, of Pasadena, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Lola and Earl Orr, brother, Kenneth Orr, and a sister, Mary Blalock.
