OBITUARY: With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we the family of JARED CHRISTOPHER ORTEGA, announce his passing on Saturday, July 2, 2022 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 37. Jared was surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1985 in Lawton, OK., to Cynthia Rael and Gilbert Ortega. He attended Gadsden High School and began working for Walmart at age 18 he was employed for 19 years and was known for his dedication and smile.

Jared was a faithful follower of Christ. He loved his family whole heartily and found pride and joy in his nephews and niece. He was a WWE wrestling fan, who loved working out and spent numerous hours in the gym. Jared had a wonderful personality, a great sense of humor, and the biggest heart he was always ready to lend a helping hand along with a smile for everyone.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving parents, Gilbert and Cynthia Ortega of La Mesa; brother, Justin Ortega (Charlene); nephew Jacob, niece Alisah De la O all of Las Cruces, and sister, Jannelle Arzabal (Carlos); niece Jamison of Mesilla. Other survivors include paternal grandmother Mary Ortega and maternal grandparents John and Josephine Taylor numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jared was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roberto Ortega and maternal great-grandmother, Delfina Garcia.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with Pastor Joseph Peralt Officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue. Reception to follow at Mesilla Community Center 2251 Calle de Santiago, Mesilla NM.

Serving as casket bearers will be his brother Justin Ortega, brother-in-law Carlos Arzabal, cousin Nolan Abler, and his friends Jason Pharisien, Richard Romero and Mike Garza.

Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces, 527-2222.
