Biography

Felipe Ortega was born on 26 May 1903 in Losoya, Bexar County, Texas. His parents were Jesus Ortega and Maria Huron. He received the sacrament of Baptism on 21 Jul 1903 in St. Carmen Catholic Church, Losoya, Bexar County, Texas.[1]

The 1910 United States Census cited Felipe Ortega as the son of Jesus Ortega. Felipe was seven (7) years old and born in Texas. His estimated birth year was 1903. Event Date: 18 May 1910. Event Place: Justice Precinct 6, Bexar County, Texas.[2]

Felipe married Maria Casillas, the daughter of Felix Soloman Casillas and Maria Guadalupe Calderon. They were united in Holy Matrimony on 27 Jun 1925 in Bexar County, Texas.[3]

Felipe and Maria had the following children:

  • Jimmie Ortega, born 25 July 1926, in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas, his prior name was Monoclovio Ortega;
  • Carolina Ortega, born 20 Feb 1928, in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas;
  • Emily Ortega, born 3 Jun 1929, in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas;
  • Joe C Ortega, born 13 Feb 1931, in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas, his prior name was Rosenberg Ortega;
  • Howard Ortega, born 22 Jun 1932, in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas;
  • Mildred Ortega, born 24 May 1935, in Bexar, Texas.

Felipe enlisted in the armed forces during World War II on 06 May 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. His enlistment documented he was married, his education level was Grammar school, and his civilian occupation was as a semiskilled mechanic and repairmen, motor vehicles. His serial number was 18104954.[4]

Felipe was pronounced dead on arrival at the Robert B Green Memorial Hospital on 20 Jun 1975. He was 72 years old and divorced. His residence was 623 N. Trinity Street, San Antonio, Texas. Cause of death was Myocardial Infarction. Funeral services was under the direction of Max Martinez Mortuary, San Antonio, Texas.
