Biography
Hulda Ortlib was born on 10 Dec 1896 in Gruschig, Russian Empire. Her parents were Samuel Ortlib and Justina Rosner. [1]
She married Julius Schoening, a carpenter, on 13 Mar 1913 in Novina, Sums'ka, Ukraine (requires source). Together they had at least 5 children in the Ukraine:
Immigration
In about 1948 she emigrated and they settled in Canada where she was a homemaker and successful immigrant. [1] Her husband passed away in 1953 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. [2]
In 1965 she was recorded in the Canada voting list while living on 47th Avenue in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. She was a widow. [3]
Hulda Schoening died from liver cancer on June 13, 1971 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada at the age of 74 years. She was buried in Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria on 17 Jun 1971. [1]

SCHOENING -- At the residence, Suite 3, 952 Queens Ave., on June 13, 1971, Mrs. Hulda Schoening, aged 74 years; born in Gruschig, Ukraine, and a resident of Victoria for the past year. She leaves her son, Nafan, Victoria, B.C.; daughters, Mrs. Meta Pfluger, Victoria, B.C.; Mrs. Ellie Bohn, Saskatoon, Sask., and Mrs. Sine Suchofske, Russia; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grand-children. Service will be held in the Sands Mortuary Limited, "Memorial Chapel of Chimes," on Thursday, June 17, 1971, at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Paul Hawkes officiating. Interment in the Royal Oak Burial Park.
