Biography

Myron Harlow Orton was born April 4, 1810, in Brookfield, Madison County, New York, the eldest son of Harlow North Orton and Grace Marsh, who were married about 1808, in Brookfield. ^[1]

On July 2, 1840, in LaPorte, Indiana, Myron H. Orton married Mary Ann Brown. ^[2] Myra and Mary Ann are found on the United States Census of 1850, residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with children Cordelia, age 7, Diana, age 5, and Eliza, age 3. Myron is 38 years of age and Mary Ann is 28 years of age and born in Virginia. All of the children were born in Indiana. Also living in the household is American Brown, age 22 born in Indiana. (presumably Mary Ann's sister) ^[3]

On the 1860 Census, Myra and Mary Ann are living in Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. ^[4] Their daughter, Cordelia married A.K. Jones on June 2, 1863, in Madison, Wisconsin. ^[5]
