Emma Catherine Orton was born in 1850 in Bishopwearmouth, County Durham, England. The 2nd child and 1st daughter of the 4 children of Reginald Orton and Mary Isabella Thompson. In 1877 she married Edward Sawer(1852 - 1914 (62)), the son of unknown parents and they had 3 children:
