Biography

Ambrose Orvis was born July 7, 1758 to William Orvis and Elizabeth (Alexander) Orvis. Revolutionary War Veteran. One of ten children of William Orvis and Elizabeth Severance, Ambrose Orvis removed to Michigan late in his life. His grave marker is in excellent condition, as is the New Hudson Cemetery.

More info found in a scrapbook at the Lyon Township Public Library - South Lyon Herald dated April 25, 1935 Few people are aware that in New Hudson Cemetery rests the remains of a Revolutionary Soldier - Ambrose Orvis - who died inLyon Township in 1844. He was a musician and played a snare drum ato both inagurals of Pres. Washington in New York. The Daughters of the American Revolution have provided a bronze tablet which will be inserted in the small white slab in New Hudson before Memorial Day. Bio found with thanks to find a grave.
