Biography

Anthony Osborne was born about 1789 in Ewhurst, Sussex, England.

Anthony Osborn married Eleanor Eldridge on 2 Dec 1819 in Ewhurst.^[1]

Eleanor and Anthony had six children: James Osborne (1820-1822), Elizabeth (Osborne) Funnel (1821-), Anthony Osborne (1822-1915), Eleanor (Osborne) White (1824-1906), Sarah (Osborne) Goodsell (1825-1909), and Ann (Osborne) Piper (1827-1898).

Anthony's wife Eleanor Osborne passed away before the 1841 census.

In 1841 Anthony Osborne (age 50-54) lived at Lordine in Ewhurst with three of his children: Elizh (20-24), Anthony (15-19), and Ann (14).^[2]

In 1851 Anthony Osborne (age 60, agricultural labourer) and his son Anthony (28, ag lab) were lodgers at Staple Cross in Ewhurst in the household of son-in-law Jesse Goodsell (26, ag lab), with daughter Sarah Goodsell (24), and grandsons William Hy Goodsell (4 months), John Osborne (4) and James Osborne (2).^[3]

In 1861 Anthoney Osbourn (73, ag lab) lived at Staplecross in Ewhurst with his son-in-law Jesse Goodsell (38, ag lab), daughter Sarah (36), and four grandchildren: James (12, ag lab), Eleanor (8, scholar), Sarah A (6, scholar), and Henry (3).^[4]

In 1871 Anthony Osborn (age 84, ag lab) lived in Ewhurst with his daughter Elizabeth Funnel (46, housekeeper).^[5]

In 1881 Anthony Osborn (age 94, ag lab) lived in Ewhurst with his daughter Elizabeth B Funnel (56, housekeeper).^[6]

Anthony Osborne passed away in Dec 1882, and was buried at Ewhurst Green on 1 Jan 1883.^[7]
