Biography

Andrew J. Osborn was born about 1815 in Giles Co. TN. He married second to Julia Tutt, 13 Feb 1844, in Peter-Point, Arkansas.

Andrew J. Osburn served as a private in Company B, commanded by Captain Christopher C. Danely, in the 1st Regiment of Arkansas Cav. commanded by Colonel Archibald Yell, in the war with Mexico. At age 32 years, he enlisted at Washington, in the State of Arkansas on or about July, 1846, and continued in active service in said war until his services terminated by Discharge on 20 June, 1847, Camargo, Mexico. The record says he was 5 feet 10 inches in height, had grey eyes and light hair. His occupation was stone mason.

On 5 Aug 1861 he volunteered for service with the Confederacy. He enlisted at Yellville, Marion Co. AR, served for 12 months. He served at Pea Ridge. Andrew was discharged 5 Aug 1862.

Andrew was with his family in Missouri in 1864. He was shot to death in Ozark, Missouri, by a person, or persons unknown on 11 October, 1864.

His wife Julia applied for pension. The census and the papers submitted as a part of Julia's application provide much of the information on Andrew's life.

A report on the research of Andrew Jackson Osburn [1] was written in January 2017 (Cecil Stuerke)

This father/son relationship is not confirmed. Based on circumstantial evidence (census reports, family lore, etc).

If the relationship is actually true, Robert is Andrew's son by a prior marriage to that of his wife Julia Tutt in Searcy Co., Ark.

Osburn-619 and Osborn-3021 appear to represent the same person because: There are some spelling variations. I recommend Osborn for Andrew. The tree will still work if Robert is spelled Osburn, but the merge for Robert will need to be initiated and watched.
