Biography

Benjamin was born about 1790. He was the son of Solomon Osborne and Hannah Bolling.

He married Susannah (Baker) Osborne (abt.1796-abt.1865) in Floyd County, Kentucky in 1813 [1] [2]. Their children [3] [4]:

  1. Judah Guidious (Osborne) Mullins (abt.1814-1857)
  2. Candace Dacy (Osborne) Mullins (1814-1888)
  3. Mary "Polly" Osborne (1818-1880) m. Caleb Collier
  4. Elizabeth "Bettie" Osborne (1820-1872) m. Jacob Johnson
  5. James Osborne (abt.1820-)
  6. Hannah Elizabeth Osborne (1824-1898)
  7. Ruel Priest Osborne (1825-1901)
  8. Mahala (Osborne) Estep (abt.1825-abt.1898)
  9. Olivey (Osborne) Baker (1826-1916)
  10. David Jesse Osborne (abt.1831-abt.1890)
  11. William (Osborn) Osborne Sr (abt.1834-1885)
  12. George Osborne (1836-1854)
  13. Margaret "Peggy" Osborne (1840-1900)

Household in 1820 Census [5]:

  • 1 male age 16-25 (Benjamin)
  • 3 females < 10 (Judah, Candace, Mary "Polly")
  • 1 female 16-25 (wife Susannah)

Household in 1830 Census [6]:

  • 1 male <5 years (Ruel Priest)
  • 1 male 15-19 (most likely James although the age is off)
  • 1 male 30-39 (Benjamin
  • 2 females <5 years (Oliviey and Mahala)
  • 1 female 5-9 (Hannah)
  • 2 females 10-14 (Elizabeth and Mary)
  • 1 female 15-19 (either Judah or Candace)
  • 1 female 30-39 (wife Susannah)

Household in 1840 Census [3]:

  • 2 males <5 years (George and William)
  • 1 male 15-19 (James)
  • 1 male 40-49 (Benjamin)
  • 1 female <5 years (Margaret)
  • 3 females 10-14 (Hanna, Olivey, Mahala)
  • 1 female 15-19 (likely Mary Polly although the age is off)
  • 1 female 40-49 (wife Susannah)
  • 1 female 70-79 (likely Benjamin's mother Hannah Boling Osborne, age 74 in 1840)

The 1850 census names the three youngest children William, George, and Peggy in the household [4]. The 1860 census shows two young children (Levi (age 10) and Mathias (age 9) residing in the household of Benjamin and Susannah [7]. These are most likely their grandchildren, the sons of David Jesse Osborne (abt.1831-abt.1890) and his first wife Rhoda Keen who passed away before 1855. The children Levi and Mathias also appear on the 1860 census in the household of their father David and his second wife, Elizabeth Deel. It is likely the children spent time in both residences and were double-counted in the census.

In 1870. Benjamin resided with his son William and his family in Buchanan County, Virginia [8]. He passed away about 1871 and was laid to rest in the Frank Tackett Cemetery in Virgie, Pike County, Kentucky [9].

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:

What is the basis of the middle name of 'Harrison'? I have not found a record to corroborate.

IMO, the Find-a-Grave memorial is not a source. It includes a photo of what looks to be a 20th century memorial with a list of names and dates.
