Hi Christine,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

I'm researching Henry Osborn(e) (also spelled Orsbourn) b. 1814-1818 in Genesee County NY; lived in Livonia Center, died at Livingston County almshouse in Geneseo, 1904. In one census, his parents were born in VT, in others, NY. (After the Revolution, the boundary was contested.)

Around 1840, Henry married Jerusha Backus, possibly in Pine Plains, NY. They had 6 children. He also fathered 4 sons by Catharine Whalen, a young woman who lived in the home in 1870 and 1880, identified as Mistress. Her surname was misspelled "Whaley" in both census records. I haven't found anything about her birth or death. However, there was a nearby family, that of Jeremiah Michael Whalen, and he had a daughter named Catharine. I have many DNA connections to his descendants.

Henry and Catharine are my g-g-grandparents through their son Charles, b. 1870. I've found quite a bit of info on him and his brothers. Happy to share.
