John Osborne was baptised on 5 October 1784, base child of Alice Man. John Osborne Mann cordwainer married Jane Prowse on 4 August 1816 at St.Levan. She made her mark witnessed by Peter Williams and Richards. From 1817 to 1857 John was recorded as a cordwainer.? They had eight children, seven baptised at St.Levan, and the last at Treen. In 1841 he was 55 a shoemaker living in Treen St.Leven with Jane 50, Jane 20, Cordelia 19, Charles 15 apprentice blacksmith, Naboth 14, Charlotte 11 and Margaret 9. In the 1851 census there is a John aged 68, a shoemaker employing one man, living at Treen Village, near the bottoms, St.Just, who was born in St.Levan as was his wife Jane aged 50, and daughters Charlotte 21 and Margaret 19 who were living with him. Possibly it is he who married Jane Prowse on 4 August 1816 and Jane from Treryn was buried 24 March 1861 at St.Levan aged 70. In 1861 John was a widower 75 shoemaker living at Treen with his unmarried daughter Charlotte 30. Next door was Martha Osborne 48 unmarried lodger charwoman born in St.Buryan. He was a widow aged 85 living with his daughter Charlotte Parkin in 1871 and her husband Parkin and their family and her brother Naboth and his two children, at Treen, St.Levan. In 1881 John 95 born in St Levan, former cordwainer born in St.Levan lived with the Parkins. Jane was baptised 13 November 1792 at St.Buryan, daughter of Charles Prowse and Jane Tinner.
