John was baptised on 26 February 1826 at St.Levan, when aged two, and married Caroline Veal Oats on 20 October 1849 at St.Levan. Caroline was born at Madron in 1823, daughter of a gardener John Oats or Veale and Loveday Oats. John Osborne was recorded as an agricultural labourer living in St.Just churchtown in 1851. [census] In 1861 John 37 was an ag lab and dairyman and lived at Trevarian, St.Buryan, with Caroline 38, Margaret 12 born St.Levan, Elizabeth J 9, William T 7, Thomasin 5 and Caroline 3, the last four all born at St.Buryan.. In 1871 he was living at Nancherrow, St Just with his wife and five children. In 1881 they lived at Chyenhall Moor also Boscean in Paul as a dairyman, with daughter Caroline aged 22, son John a dairyman, grandson James 6 and granddaughter Mary E.Richards 2 from Paul. In 1891 he was 66 a farm labourer at Chyenhall Moor with Caroline 68, daughter Grace 29 and twin grandchildren James and Richard, both aged 10 and born at Paul. Caroline was buried at Paul 9 Jan 1894. ”Deaths. Osborne. Jan 6, at Chyenhall-moor, Paul, Caroline Oates, wife of Mr John Osborne, 70” [Cornishman, 11 Jan 1894] In 1901 John widower gardener age 76 was living with his daughter Caroline O Nicholls. John died in June q 1905 at Penzance district.
