Biography

Stephen Osgood was born 30 Sep 1741 in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.^[1][2] The Osgood genealogy^[3] indicates he was one of eleven children born to Lieut. Stephen and Dorcas (Ballard) Osgood.

Stephen married Mary Foster of Worcester on 11 Oct 1769 at the Old North Church in Boston.^[4] Together they had 13 children.^[3] They resided in Tewksbury until about 1795 when they moved to Hallowell, Maine, where he kept a public house. He did marry again after his first wife Mary died; he had no children by his second wife.^[3]

He passed away in 1812 in Hallowell, Maine, at age 70.^[5][3]

The death record for Stephen Osgood indicates he held the title "Capt." however no record of military service has yet been located.
