Biography

TIMOTHY OSGOOD,[1] b. at Andover, 22 Aug 1693 son of Timothy Osgood and Deborah Poor; Timothy d. 1772 (probate 24 Nov 1772); m. at Andover, 10 May 1716, MARY RUSSELL, b. at Andover, 10 Feb 1692/3 daughter of Thomas and Phebe (Johnson) Russell; d. at Andover, 1778 (probate 3 Feb 1778).

In his will written 13 June 1769 (probate 24 November 1772), Timothy Osgood bequeaths to beloved wife Mary all the household goods and one-third of the personal estate to be at her disposal. She also receives the improvement on one-third of the real estate. Son Peter receives the dwelling house and the tanner house on the land where Peter now lives which completes his portion. Son Isaac receives £67 to complete his portion. Grandchildren who are the children of Timothy deceased receive five shillings and no more as Timothy received his full portion. The grandchildren are Timothy, Phebe, Abiah, and Asa. Daughter Deborah wife of Obadiah Wood receives £90. Daughter Phebe wife of Thomas Poor receives forty shillings and daughter Hannah wife of John Adams receives £107. Son Thomas Osgood receives all the real and personal estate in Andover as well as the money and bonds. Thomas is named executor. Real property was valued at £883 and personal estate at £155.[2]

In her will written 30 January 1775 (probate 3 February 1778), Mary Osgood made bequests of six shillings each to her children and the grandchildren of those children who were deceased as named: son Peter Osgood; son Timothy Osgood; son Thomas Osgood; son Isaac Osgood; the children of son Timothy Osgood who are Timothy, Phebe, Abiah, and Asa; granddaughter Susannah Kittredge; grandsons John Adams and Isaac Adams the children of Hannah the late wife of John Adams. Daughters Phebe Poor wife of Thomas Poor and Deborah Wood wife of Obadiah Wood receive all the household goods. Son-in-law Thomas Poor was named executor. Susanna Kittredge named in the will is a daughter of Peter; she married Thomas Kittredge.[3]

Timothy Osgood and Mary Russell were parents of 8 children.
