Biography

Elizabeth was a daughter of John Ostrander and Sarah (Carpenter) Ostrander, born 19 February 1802 at Schodack, New York, and baptized in 1802 in the Greenbush Reformed Dutch Church at East Greenbush, recorded as a child of John Ostrander and Sally Carpenter. [1] [2]

She was married to Edward Sherley on 9 May 1839 in the church at East Greenbush. He was born in England in 1787.[3]

They resided in Albany, New York. Their children were:[3]

  1. Edward Gershom Sherley, born 13 April 1840
  2. Sarah Elizabeth Sherley
  3. Frederick Sherley; died young
  4. Arthur Sherley; married Mary Harrison
  5. Mary Elizabeth Sherley; died young
  6. Edward Sherley; died young

Elizabeth's husband died in Albany on 30 April 1865. She survived as his widow and died 21 July 1878.[3]
