Date: 01 MAY 1779^[1]

In Settlers of the Beekman Patent, Doherty gives his birth date as 1774 (Vol. 9, page 721) and "ca. 1771" (Vol. 9, page 722). Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte reports that he died in "1846, aged 75 yrs.", indicating a birth year of ca. 1771^[2]

During the American Revolutionary War, his father was a Loyalist. The family emigrated to Canada after 1774.^[3]

The 1851 Canada Census recorded Daniel Ostrom, age 74, in Sidney, Hastings County, Canada West. He was born in "N States," presumably referring either to New York state or United States.^[4]

Daniel passed away in 1855. ^{[citation needed]}
