Biography

Kristen Connery Otenti was born on Saturday, 30 October 1982 in Framingham, Massachusetts, United States, to Paul Otenti and Elizabeth Barron. Her middle name comes from her godfather, Walter Connery (Walter's obituary), at whose home Kristen's parents met. Kristen's godmother is her aunt, Patty Smith.

She lived in Bellingham, Massachusetts until the summer before she turned 10 and will answer "Bellingham" when asked where she's from. She was involved in a myriad of extracurricular activities, including soccer, gymnastics, and piano lessons, until she found her fit in horseback riding. Within a few short years, she added equestrian vaulting to her repertoire.

Her family moved to Franklin, where they had a much bigger yard and could eventually stable horses of their own. In early 1995, the family bought/rescued Amber (nee Jovetta, aka Bunny), a thoroughbred mare, from a neglectful home and boarded her at a friend's barn while they finished building their own.

Kristen broke her femur that April when she hit a truck, due to no fault of Amber's. (I know she's not reading this, but that was for her benefit.)

After their "barn" was complete, the family house Amber and their friend's palomino, Guy. They boarded a neighbor's horse for a while, too. Shortly before Kristen's 16th birthday, after a call from her former riding instructor who was retiring and looking for homes for her horses, her parents adopted Brandy (the first horse Kristen ever rode) as a birthday present for Kristen.

Sadly, after Kristen's parents split in 2001, Amber and Guy went to live with Guy's owner near Springfield, MA. After losing employment to relocation, Kristen also had to say goodbye to Brandy (who is, as of this writing in 2022, the last horse Kristen ever rode).

When the family house was sold in 2004, Kristen moved across town for a few years before she and her sister bought their own place in Millville.

She attended Dean College in Franklin for the spring semester of 2009 where (at the time) she hoped to major in Criminal Justice. She could not afford a second semester and has since come to her senses.

After a falling out with her sister, Kristen moved to Texas, staying in a hotel in the north of Fort Worth until she found employment and an apartment in Arlington. However, the job was not sustainable for her, and she ended up living with her father in Lake Placid, New York.

Unable to find permanent employment in a tourist town, she returned to Massachusetts, where she bounced around between friends and family before settling in Clinton (for a year) and Rutland (for a year and a half).

She again found herself in New York before having a bit of a life crisis and attempting to move to California. (The road trip for which she lovingly refers to as her "Life Crisis '15" tour.) Upon running out of money and the will to live, she reached out to her mother, who invited her up to Maine. Kristen still lives in Maine as of this writing in 2022.

K.C.Otenti, Writer

Kristen has been crafting stories since before she could write on her own. [upload, embed 1st story image] Through high school and her early 20's, Kristen mainly wrote flash fiction. In 2006 or 2007, she tried her hand at writing some Simpsons episodes for fun. She submitted one to the 77th Annual Writer's Digest Writing Competition, and placed 5th in the TV/Movie Script category [check the proper names].

In 2011, while living with her dad in Lake Placid, Kristen tried her hand at writing a novel. She fell hilariously short when it clocked in at 13,000 and had no ending.

For some reason, she didn't give up. For the next eight years (off and on), she wrote, rewrote, revised, and deleted more words than she cares to imagine. Finally, in 2019, she self-published her debut novel, Through the Mirrah, under her pen name, K.C.Otenti.

Research Notes

I'm working diligently on building my family tree, but I can't do it alone! If you can help with the folks on these lists at all, I'd appreciate it!

Hi, Kristen

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
