Biography

Joseph Oughtibridge was born in Yorkshire, England.

Joseph, child of Peter Oughtibridge& Martha Moore, was born on 4 December 1789 and baptised on 18 March 1789 in Hatfield, Yorkshire, England.^[1]

On 3 March 1817 he married Mary Moore in Owston, Lincolnshire. ^[2]

"Joseph Oughtibridge of the Parish of Hatfield, Bachelor, married Mary Moore of the Parish of Owston, Spinster on 3 March 1817 at St Martin, Owston, Lincolnshire. Witnesses were William Moore and William Barber, and was conducted after Banns by Thomas Clark, Vicar." ^[3]

In 1841 Joseph was a Farmer living with his family in Crowle Lincolnshire. There were six of his children at home, ^[4] and in 1851 in Garthorpe, not far from Crowle, a Farmer of 50 acres. ^[5] In 1861 they were back living in Crowle, with a farm of 24 acres. ^[6]

Joseph died age 77 on 19 May 1865 in Crowle, ^[7] as recorded in the Probate record of 7 January 1868, proved at Lincoln by John Oughtibridge, son of one of the Executors. ^{[8] [9]} He was buried on 22 May 1865 in Crowle.^[10]
