BENTLY OUTLAW, born 1751, Duplin County, N.C. Went to Chesterfield County, S.C. early in life, and died there 1852. Was a bachelor until after the Revolution, and stated that his military service was "principally chasing down Tories." Married Martha - - - ?

  • According to "Genealogical Abstracts of Rev. War Pension Files", Bently Outlaw was from Chesterfield District, South Carolina. His pension number is R7833 and he applied on March 31, 1840. In 1840 he gave his age as 89, however in the 1850 census he is listed as being 103. He died about 1852 and was referred to as Bently Outlaw, Senior. His surviving children in 1852 were, John aged 60, Nancy aged 57, Elizabeth Clanton aged 55, twins Benjamin and Lydia aged 44, James aged 40 and Syntha Johnson aged 39. His widow Martha was aged 80 and in 1856 she was of Chesterfield District, South Carolina. Bently is also listed in the DAR Patriot Index - Centennial Edition as a Private from South Carolina. also shows he had two children: John Outlaw & Benjamin W. Outlaw (1811 -?)
