Extract:
(Submitted by Mrs. Margaret Smith, the brief notes supplied here have been taken from research carried out on behalf of a member of the Stevens family. Frederick Ovenden’s mother was Stevens prior to her marriage).
Frederick William Ovenden was born in 1882, and he and his wife lived in the Roath area. Members of the family had lived at various addresses, and in earlier years they were in Canton.
The family of Frederick’s father (Henry John Ovenden) were not native to Cardiff and had most likely moved hee from the south-east, possibly Kent or Sussex.
At the time of Frederick Ovenden’s death the family had been in Monthermer Road but had been at other addresses in St. Martin’s Parish. His mother (Hannah) had been living at 78 Marlborough Road in the 1930s but t the time of her death in 1947 was at Lansdowne Road, Canton, where on her children (an unmarried daughter Kathleen) lived.
Frederick Ovenden and his wife Florence had children, but it is not known whether they, or any descendants, remained in Cardiff.
