DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jonas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonas:
Hello, I am sorry to say if you would review this profile you will see I do not have a Abraham as the father of Jonas. I tried to find the profile of Barbara A. C. Overcash and I could not locate one. So I don't have a clue as to what you are referring to. Please do not make any changes to these profile unless you have documentation to show a backup to what you are saying. I thank you for your input. The family of Overcast, and Overcash are very tricky.
I have been researching this today after finding an older G2G post and combing through sources shows some inconsistencies and I'm hoping you've got some ideas to help :) I've found and added multiple marriage docs for Jonas W. Overcash and Mary Lipe, all for August of 1859. What caught my attention is the 1850 census attached on FamilySearch where the spelling "Jones" was inferred but regardless the spouse name "Mary A."starts being seen and two children are in the home- daughter Barbara is listed as being "0/12months" and a daughter Margaret, age 9yrs. This means this couple were living together 9 ears before getting married AnD they have 2 daughters before marriage- one in 1941- 15 yrs before!
This is not the only source mixing data or I'd call it a outlier, separate, list why and move on.
When looking at the profile for daughter Barbara A. C. Overcash who it appears the WikiTree profile was created after- the actual death record says mothers name unattainable but father was definitely "Washburn Overcash" and this is in bold type print, not illegible handwriting. All sources point to Barbara A. C. Overcash existing but either not as a child of Jonas and Mary or maybe both had prior marriages?
The 1860 Census leans toward the later bc the couple were wed in 1859 but in 1860 we have Jonas and "Mary. C." Overcash with same2 daughters listed and a son, George Lipe, 7 yrs. This perhaps means Lipe was surname of a first husband of Mary's and then we'd have a first wifebof Jonas with the name Mary as well but the Barbara A. C. issue is still there.
UPDATE: read the 1880Census more closely and it lists 30 year old Barbara A. C. Overcash as "sister" of h.o.h. here is a link to FamilySearch page [1] which was "J. Washn. Overcash". So- the 1850 Census with her birth is being moved to the parents and accounts for a different Mary but means the Abraham on here is Not the Father of Jonas...
Cheers! Becky Elizabeth
Cheers to you!! De Anna Overcast
