Research Notes

The baptism of William Overend as quoted in the acknowledgements took place on 13 November 1575, not 1566. The register does not begin until 1575 and William is on the first page.^[2] If the marriage to Agnes Robertshaw is to be kept, his parents should be detached.

William (1566 to 1602) was baptised at Kildwick Parish Church, as shown in the church records (Decimo tercio die Nobembris Supradicti baptizatus fuit. William Overende filius Henry Overende et Alicia broris cuis); in 1586 William married Agnes Robertshawe or Robertsaye (1568 to 1622) from Kildwick; they lived in Kildwick and had six children,
