He married Mary Jane Yarnell on September 6, 1883 in Anderson County, Tennessee.[4]
In the 1900 U.S. Census, Joseph is 57 years old, Mary is 39 with seven children living on their own farm in Civil District 11 of Anderson County.[5]
The 1910 U.S. Census shows Joseph at 67 years of age with his wife Mary and four children living on the farm in Civil District 6 of Knox County, Tennessee.[6]
Joseph died May 3, 1915 and was buried at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson County, Tennessee.[7][8]
