Biography

In the Owen pedigree in the Visitation of Shropshire in 1623[1] Richard Owen was recorded as the third son of Thomas Owen and Sara Baskerville.

Richard Owen was baptised on 20 Oct 1577 at St Michael, Bassishaw, City of London, son of Thomas Owen, gentleman.[2]

In 1597 he made a bond concerning lands in County Mongomery.[3]

He was noted in the will of his father Thomas Owen, one of the Justices of the Common Pleas, the will made on 09 Dec 1598 and proved on 28 Feb 1598/1599.[4]

In 1604 he was the Executor of the will of his uncle Robert Owen of Shrewsbury, gent.[5]

His year and place of death are unknown.

Apologies, I am confusing Richard, Robert and Roger. I was looking at the Will of Richard senior, brother of Thomas the judge. I have just read the Will of Robert and you are, of course, correct.

Richard Owen, executor of the Will of Roger Owen was the testator's son. Although Richard Owen, son of Thomas is mentioned in his father's 1598 Will as party to an indenture dated 10 July 1597 and a Lease, no provision is made for him. I suspect that he died 1597-1598.

P.S. I have found your entries for this family of immense value in my ancestry research, thank you.

Thanks Oliver. Can I just clarify - did you mean Richard Owen, executor of the will of Robert Owen?
