William Samuel OWEN of the parish of St.Mary Abchurch, London, bachelor, married Judy Ann (Judiana) SPENCER, spinster by Licence on 28 December 1803 in St.George's, Hanover Square.
By 1819, he was living in Kaapstad, Weskaap, Suid-Afrika [1].

Under Lord Charles Somerset, in 1816, Slaves Registers were set up by District[2], to regulate slavery, prevent illegal enslavement of free blacks, and to slowly prepare for the looming Abolition, that eventually came in 1834.
The Stellenbosch Slave Register, Ledger O, Folio 10, for "William Samuel Owen" [3], contains a single slave, transferred from Barend Johannes Jansen van Rensburg, Ledger R, Folio 15, in Tulbagh district:
