Event:
Court Rec., 1806, Pittsylvania Co, VA.
Note: A law suit was filed over some land by John Wilson against "the heirs of John Owen," namely "John Owen, Glenn Owen, George Owen, James Rutledge and -- , his wife, formerly -- Owen, and Jenny Musgrove, formerly Jenny Owen." Eight weeks after the first entry on this case, the heirs were again listed, again with a blank for the wife of James Rutledge, but this time referred to as the "heirs of Thomas Owen." Their was no response from the Owen heirs, so the land was awarded to Wilson. This proves that the wife of James Rutledge was Ann Owen, because other records show that James's wife was named Ann.[2]
