Biography
George Stephen Oxley was born on April 6th 1879. He is the son of Richard Oxley and Frances Carter.
The 1901 Census of Canada lists George Oxley: birth date: 1879-04-06, age: 22, marital status: single, place of birth: Nova Scotia.[1]
George (age 27) married Margaret Ethel Gaetz (age 30) on July 3rd 1906 in Middelton, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. George was born in River Philip and resided in Oxford; Margaret was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and resided in Middleton at the time of marriage. George's parents are Thompson (occ Farmer) and Francis; Margaret's parents are Rev. Joseph Gaetz and Sarah Beaumont. Witnesses were Harold L. Gaetz and Gertrude O. Oxley and officating was Rev Joseph Gaetz (Margaret's father). [2]
George Stephen Oxley died November 17th 1939 at age 60 years, 7 months, 10 days in Oxford, Cumberland from chronic nephritis. The death certificate showed: Date of Birth: April 6th 1879, Birth Place: River Philip, Cumberland County, NS, Occupation: Commercial Traveler, Dry Goods, Spouse: Margaret Ethel Gaetz, Father: [Richard] Thompson Oxley, Mother: [Frances] Carter. His death certificate was signed by his wife. Burial was at Pine Grove Cemetery on November 19th 1939. [3]
